Charging BOLT+Updated 15 days ago

BOLT+ is powered by wireless QI charging and its optimized power management ensures extended BOLT+ operation on a single charge for all-day battery life.

To charge BOLT+:

  1. Ensure the BOLT+ cradle is receiving power either through the Power Pack or via the charging cord plugged into a charging brick in a wall outlet. You will know the charging cradle is receiving power when there is a solid blue LED light on the charging cradle.
  2. Place BOLT+ directly on the charging cradle, ensuring the LCD screen is facing up and is parallel to the ground
  3. If BOLT+ is charging correctly, the blue LED light on the charging cradle will begin flashing. The LED lights on BOLT+ will also light up.
  4. If the blue LED light remains solid, adjust BOLT+ until the battery has a strong connection with the charging base - the LED light will then begin flashing blue.
  5. To ensure the charging cradle maintains a strong connection with the robot, please do not move the cradle or Power Pack while charging. If you are charging your BOLT+ robots using a Power Pack, please keep the lid open during charging - closing the lid can cause the robots to rotate off their correct charging position.
  6. When the lights on the charging base(s) turn solid purple, this indicates that your BOLT+ robots are fully charged.

Charging Cradle has a Red Light

If the LED light on your charging cradle is a solid red color, it means your robot is not charging, and one of two things are happening:

  1. You have placed a foreign object in the charging cradle. For example, if you accidentally place an older Sphero SPRK+ robot on the charging cradle, the LED light will turn red as the charging cradle is unable to charge a SPRK+ robot. Please remove the foreign object and place your BOLT+ on the charging cradle.
  2. BOLT+ is tilted on the charging base and doesn't have a strong enough connection to charge. This behavior will be displayed by a few blinks of the blue LED light and then the LED light will change to a solid red light. Please remove BOLT+ from the charging base and then place it back on the charging base, ensuring a strong connection between the battery and the charging cradle.

How long does it take BOLT+ to Charge?

A fully depleted BOLT+ battery can take 8 hours to charge.

How do I Store my BOLT+ Robots when not in Use?

If you are not using the BOLT+ robots for a few weeks, like over a winter or summer holiday, it’s best to return all BOLT+ robots to their charging cradles, charge to about 50%, unplug the charging cradles (or Power Pack), and store at room temperature.

When you are ready to use your BOLT+ robots again, simply plug in your Power Pack. After storing for several months, plug in your charging cradles (or Power Pack), making sure charging indication LEDs are on for each BOLT+ a day ahead of time to make sure the robots are fully charged for student use.
