BOLT+ Different ModesUpdated 10 months ago

Power On

Active Use

The active use state is only reached when a user has connected via Bluetooth. In this mode, the LEDs/display are active/usable. Bolt+ will remain in this mode until a disconnect occurs, critical battery is reached, or the timeout limit of 5 minutes is reached. If the timeout limit is reached, the robot will automatically transition to the low power advertising mode.

Low Power Advertising

The low power advertising mode, as the name suggests, is a mode where only minimal parts of the system are active. The robot will advertise via BLE as connectable and a single, dedicated bluetooth LED will flash signaling this condition. Bolt+ will remain in this mode until a connection is made or the timeout limit of 3 minutes is reached. If the timeout limit is reached, the robot will automatically transition to the shake to wake mode/state.

Shake To Wake

The shake to wake state is the lowest power state after the off mode. In this state, the robot is mostly powered off with only sensing enabled for the shake sensor and charger detected interrupts. In order to exit this mode, the user will either need to shake the robot a few times in a controlled manner to trigger the shake interrupt or use the reset-in-charger functionality.

Power Off

The power off state is the lowest power state available; no LEDs/display is active and the system does nothing. The only way to transition out of this state is to use the reset-in-charger functionality.

In order to power off a Bolt+ robot, the user will either need to request power off/deep sleep via the App or Web interface or let the battery reach a critical level, where firmware will force a power off/deep sleep.

Inactivity

BOLT+ will automatically transition to the low power advertising mode if the robot is inactive for longer than 5 minutes.

Inactivity is ignored in the following conditions:

- Charger is connected and battery is charging

- Wakeup or Sleep animation is playing

Reset In Charger

The only external transition between states/modes available is the reset-in-charger hardware mechanism, which will force a reset when Bolt+ upon entry into the charger.
