Blueprint Engineering Troubleshooting and FAQsUpdated 6 months ago

Why is there a port on each side of my Power Bit?

This is so you can power two independent Blueprint Circuits from the same Power Bit. These ports do not interact with each other.

My Motor Bit isn’t moving constantly

It is probably in position mode, switch to velocity mode

My Data Display Bit isn’t showing what I want

The display bit only reads the bit plugged in directly before it in the circuit (to the left of the Data Display Bit). Move your Data Display to directly after the bit you want to read in the circuit

My circuit doesn’t work after my Threshold Bit

The Threshold Bit only sends a 0% or 100% signal. If the threshold hasn’t been met it sends 0%, if it has been met is sends 100%. Try changing the setting on the knob or the < or > setting.

My circuit isn’t working

Ensure that the Power Bit is turned on, and all connections are secure.

My motor is spinning but my build isn’t moving

If not properly secured, axles can come loose from the motor. Use High strength shaft collars on your driven axle to ensure it says engaged in the motor.

My Motor is in Positive Position Mode but is spinning counterclockwise

The Rotary Potentiometer also has negative and positive mode, so you can change the direction of the motor in any mode. In other words, depending on your circuit, Positive Mode doesn't always mean clockwise and Negative Mode doesn't always mean counterclockwise.

Can I use my Motor Bit as a Servo motor?

Yes, you can! Connect the Rotary Potentiometer Bit right before the Motor and set the Motor to Position Mode.

My Data Display Bit isn't showing me all the Data from my circuit

The Data display bit will only show you info about the Bit directly in front of it

My 2 Rotary Potentiometer Bits don't seem to be adding up to the correct amount

When 2 Rotary Potentiometer Bits are placed back-to-back in a circuit, they are multiplicative - not additive. For example, if you have each Rotary Potentiometer Bit set at 50%, the resulting output will be calculated as 50% x 50% = 25%

Additional Troubleshooting Steps

  • Are the bits plugged in all the way?
  • Ensure your Power Bit isn't in shipping mode - the Power Bit must be plugged in at least once after it's been received to remove it from Shipping Mode. Learn more about Shipping Mode here
  • Try using the Data Display Bit after your circuit to learn more about why your circuit may not be working as expected?
  • What happens if you simplify the circuit by removing the Threshold Bit and/or the Potentiometer Bit?
